The Mia Tote is made for strength. A separate base sewn in, can give a bag a weak spot when carrying heavy items but not in the Mia. The lining fabric and foam are cut in one length with. The wide straps are continuous that run from side to side, under the base. The foam inner gives it stability. The final touch is to use an upholstery fabric for the outer. This can also be cut in one length however for a direction print, the pattern gives measurements on cutting and turning. It is a handy bag to have and not just for shopping. It makes a fantastic beach bag, maybe even use water resistant fabric as a lining. The go to bag to throw everything in when you are going on an excursion, picnics or a sewing classes.
